Connecticut Waterfalls

Also called Ayer's Falls or Ayer's Gap, Bailey's Ravine is named after Helena E. Bailey Spencer and dedicated to Felice Marnicki. 

Bailey's Ravine at Ayers Gap is a deep ravine shrouded in hemlocks. There are many falls and cascades throughout the raving varying in height from one to three meters. Following the marked trail is a very enjoyable hike with moderate difficulty as you meander along the ravine.

The Connecticut chapter of the Nature Conservancy manages the 80 acres of Ayers Gap Preserve and requires that visitors come between sunrise and sunset.  

Photogenics: 6 - This is a smaller fall with a flow that is seasonally dependent. Best to shoot after a storm or Spring runoff.

Hike Effort: 

Distance: 1 (short 1/4 mile, flat walk to the base of the lower falls)

Difficulty: 1 (flat to the lower falls) and 7 (fairly steep but well prepared climb to the upper falls). 

Parking: 10 - Being a state park, there is a paved parking lot about a short, 1/4 mile walk to the base of the lower falls.
